Kia Ora Tātou
I’m a mature woman of Irish, Scottish and Maori heritage (Ngai Tahu) and was born and grew up in the far south- Invercargill.
I am the mother of two adult children, a son and a daughter, whom both experience long standing physical health conditions (Type 1 Diabetes- the auto immune type). My partner and I have been largely, happily married for over thirty years and we now live in the beautiful village of Martinborough in the Wairarapa. |
I grew up in a small family of two parents and one sibling, but married into a large family of eight siblings, so now enjoy many fulfilling and rich family relationships.
I found being a mother the hardest job I have ever had and have the utmost respect for mothers, fathers, grandparents and caregivers who devote a big part of their life to raising children and grand children.
My first career was as a Medical Laboratory Technologist but I feel I outgrew this career in my early thirties, so retrained as a professional counsellor and for many years combined motherhood, study and practice. Life is less complex these days!
I love playing social badminton, riding my bike, overnight hikes, watching a good movie, baking, outside BBQ’s, hosting friends, travelling to other countries (when I can afford to) and the occasional glass of chilled white wine with family and friends.
I have two adorable geriatric cats and an even more adorable Golden Retriever whom loves taking us for a walk.
While I have experienced my share of adversity in life, I have learned and grown from it, seeking professional help when required.
I am now pretty satisfied and fulfilled with my life and view it as a precious gift to be experienced and enjoyed doing the things I most love- one of them being counselling.
